# of years in Education: 10

Hello, my name is Mrs. Melanie Stocks. I have been teaching at Cascade Elementary since 2017. I love teaching and being part of the Rambler community.

In 2005, I moved to Cascade with my family. My husband, George, is an electrician and we followed his work to Cascade. I have four children, Nick, Tessa, Kaylin, and Wyatt, who have all graduated from Cascade High School and a beautiful granddaughter, Sophia. I love to garden, swim, read, and spend time with my family.

I graduated Boise State University in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I worked in the McCall-Donnelly School District as a paraprofessional for four years and then in Leadore, Idaho as a 7th and 8th grade English/History teacher before joining the staff at Cascade.

My inspration to pursue education as a profession was my grade school teacher. Many of her techniques are used in my classroom to make the atmosphere welcoming and the learning engaging, challenging, and fun. Like her, I believe in my students and let them know every day.

Hopes for the upcoming school year:

I hope that I instill a love of learning in all students.

I hope that I can provide a safe welcoming environment that embraces diversity and promotes kindness.

I hope that all students understand the power of yet.

As a school, I hope we truly call to mind our best selves and that we support one another in doing so. This is a year of great change and we need to embrace it.

Why does Mrs. Stocks teach?

The classroom is one of the places that I feel the most at home. I am able to create an environment and lessons that promote students to become creative thinkers, problem solvers, community members, and most importantly empathetic and kind. I believe in the kids and want to help them find their “Aha!” moments. Teaching is more than a responsibility, it is my passion.
