Spanish II


Course Description

Spanish II is a continuation course after Spanish I. This course is planned on building and expanding from basic to complex grammatical structures by linking vocabulary and functions into meaningful and authentic activities that emphasize all four language skills--speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Further in-depth cultural knowledge and understanding of Spanish-speaking peoples continue to be integrated into the course content.
Materials: Paso a Paso 2 (Prentice Hall, 2000) textbook; teacher-made materials; online and other pertinent resources.

These standards focus on:
  • person-to-person communication
  • listening and reading for understanding
  • oral and written presentations
  • cultural perspectives, practices, and products
  • making connections through language
  • cultural and linguistic comparisons
  • communications across communities

Grading

Many of the grades in Spanish II will come from work done in class. Because of this, students are expected to participate in all activities. It is always helpful to go over notes when no homework is assigned. Grading is based on points for:
  • Participation in class
  • Assignments
  • Quizzes/Tests
  • Projects
Letter grades will be assigned to final percentages according to the Power School scale, as follows:
  • A: 90-100
  • B: 80-89
  • C: 70-79
  • D: 60-69
  • F: 59 and below
Absent day(s)
It is the responsibility of the student to see Sra. Schuman to promptly make up work when returning after an absence.
