Scanning

Students and Staff can scan in color using the scanner in Computer Lab 2. Please use the computer attached to the scanner rather than moving the scanner to a different computer as the software has not been installed on the other computers. On both scanners, the buttons on the scanner can be used to scan documents. Be prepared for a delay as the scanner warms up and realize that the default save location will be a folder on the local computer. You will want to upload the scanned images to your Google drive after you have saved them locally. Once you have uploaded the images to your Google drive, please delete the images from the local computer.

Staff members may scan documents in gray scale using any of the school copiers. However, the middle and elementary copiers are simpler to use for scanning, and can scan multiple pages into a single document using the sheet feeder.

Elementary Workroom or the Middle Office (Xerox) - Staff only

The format is pdf and grayscale (no color), and multiple pages can be scanned into a single document. How it's done:
  1. Put your papers in the document feed (or on the glass) as if you are copying (you may select double-sided).
  2. Press the "All Services" or "Network Scanning" button on the LCD display.
  3. Press the "Network Scanning" button.
  4. Press the green "Start" button.
  5. Return the copier to copy mode for the next user by pressing "All Services" on the LCD display, and then "Copy".
  6. Retrieve your copies by returning to your workstation and browsing to the "Scans" folder inside the "Teachers Common Folder"
  7. There will be two files: "DOCXXX.PDF" and "DOCXXX.XST", where XXX is just a sequential numbering of scan jobs (001, 002, etc). You may see just "DOC.PDF" and "DOC.XST" if all the previous scan jobs have been removed.
  8. Delete the "DOCXXX.XST" file and move the "DOCXXX.PDF" file to your home folder.

High School Office (Ricoh) - Staff only

The format is grayscale in either PDF or TIFF format, and multiple pages can be scanned into a single document. This is more complicated than using the middle copier, so you might find it easier to burn the extra shoe leather and use the middle copier. How it's done:
  1. Put your papers in the document feed (or on the glass) as if you are copying.
  2. Press the "Scanning" button to the left of the LCD screen. The subsequent selections will be on the LCD touchscreen.
  3. Tap the "Original Feed Type" button and select between portrait or landscape orientation and one-sided or two-sided original. Tap OK.
  4. Tap the "file name/type" and select TIFF or PDF and single-page or multi-page, then key in a file name.
  5. Tap the "folder" tab on the LCD screen (email option does not work).
  6. Tap "Manual Entry"
  7. On the "Path" line, tap "Manual Entry" and key in "\\shares\home\teachers common folder\scans" (be sure to use backslashes), then tap OK
  8. On the "User Name" line, tap "Manual Entry" and key in your normal user name (usually your first name), then tap OK
  9. On the "Password" line, tap "Manual Entry" and key in your normal password, then tap OK
  10. Tap on "Connection Test" and you should see the message "Connection with PC has Succeeded". If not, the path, username or password is incorrect and needs to be re-entered.
  11. Press the green "Start" button as you do when you make copies.
  12. Return the copier to copy mode for the next user by pressing the "Copier" button to the left of the LCD screen.
  13. Retrieve your copies by returning to your workstation and browsing to the "Scans" folder inside the "Teachers Common Folder"
