Email on Mobile Devices
Most mobile devices can be configured to access school email accounts. Students should keep in mind that policy
3270 prohibits students from using personal devices on the school network, but these devices can be used to access school email accounts from other locations. The following information comes directly from the online Gaggle user help feature.
IMAP vs POP: Which one should you choose?
IMAP Advantages
- Email is stored on the server, along with a record of whether you have read, replied to, or deleted a message.
- Allows for the synchronizing of folders
POP Advantages
- You will only receive new email from the server
- Storage is conserved since email does not store on the server, unless you choose to leave a copy. In which case you can have it automatically removed after a certain amount of days.
- There is not a maximum size on your mailbox, except as determined by the size of your hard drive.
