Writing Class Corner:
We are learning to become better writers through a writer's workshop
approach.
In a writer's workshop we get to write about anything
we choose to.
Every week a mini-lesson is taught about specific writing techniques,
we recently visited friendly letter formatting and similes.
Our weekly writing schedule usually looks something like this...
Monday: Writer's Workshop
Tuesday: Mini-Lesson
Wednesday: Mini-Lesson review
Thursday: Writer's Workshop
Friday: Writer's Workshop

This year in Social Studies we plan to learn about Early World history
such as Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, Ancient China, Mesoamerican
Civilizations, and Greek and Roman Gods and Goddesses.

Math Class:
We
begin our math class promptly at 8:15am with a problem of the day
review question that is directly linked to the Idaho State
Standards. After a thorough review of the state standard concept,
each student begins their work on their individual lesson in their
individual book. Our math class currently has 21 students.
Between the 21 students there are 5 different math books being used,
all by the publishers of Saxon Math. Students move at a pace of a
minimum of one lesson per day, some decide to complete two or even
three lessons a day.
