K12 Guidance Counselor

An Idaho K12 School Guidance Counselor plays a crucial role in supporting the academic, career, social, and emotional development of students. Their responsibilities are multifaceted and include the following key areas:

1. Academic Support

  • Individual Counseling: Provide one-on-one counseling to help students with academic challenges, goal setting, and educational planning.

  • Educational Planning: Assist students in selecting courses that align with their academic goals and graduation requirements.

  • Monitoring Progress: Track students' academic progress and intervene when students are at risk of failing or dropping out.

2. Career Guidance

  • Career Exploration: Help students explore career options and understand the connection between their education and future career paths.

  • College Preparation: Guide students through the college application process, including selecting colleges, preparing applications, and securing financial aid and scholarships.

  • Vocational Training: Inform students about vocational and technical education opportunities.

3. Social and Emotional Support

  • Counseling Services: Provide individual and group counseling to address personal, social, and emotional issues.

Position schedules and coordinates athletic events, practices, and related activities ensuring the effective utilization of staff and resources. Position also performs the duties of a classroom teacher, which includes instructing students and creating a safe and orderly learning environment.
