Smokey came to visit Kindergarten and First Grade today!
Our young learners from kindergarten and first grade got a visit from Forest Service employees, Kim and Smokey the Bear himself! Kim shared Smokey's story and how he became the icon he is today, as well as why he has such strong feelings about wildfires. Smokey shared these 5 rules with our classes: 1) Only you can prevent wildfires. 2) Always be careful with fire. 3) Never play with matches or lighters. 4) Always watch your fire. 5) Make sure your fire is always completely out. Smokey and Kim then took questions from the students before we headed back to the classroom. Thanks again Smokey and Kim!

🌊🐠 Dive into our Deep Sea Adventure! 🐬📚 Our incredible second graders just wrapped up a 9-week research journey exploring the wonders of marine life! From octopus to sea turtles, each student dove into studying an ocean creature and created their very own informational book—complete with a Table of Contents, Glossary, About the Author page, and detailed sections on physical and behavioral traits, habitat, predators and prey, and environmental threats. 🐡📖 To bring their learning to life, we even took a field trip to the Boise Aquarium to discover even more about our aquatic friends. 🌊🐙 We are so proud of their hard work, curiosity, and creativity—these young marine biologists are making waves! 💙👏 #MarineLife #SecondGradeScientists #ProjectBasedLearning #BoiseAquariumAdventure #UnderTheSea

Athlete of the Week! Sophomore Garrett Rogers did extremely well while competing in the Middleton track meet at Skyview. Rogers placed first in the high jump, with a jump of 5 feet 10 inches. Not only did he succeed in jumping, but he also went on to get third place in the 400 meters with a time of 56.35. Garrett is constantly improving every meet and breaking new records. Congratulations to Garrett Rogers on earning Male Athlete of the Week! Junior Ceder Saxton performed phenomenally last week in 6 different softball games. The competition consisted of Cole Valley Christian, North Fremont, South Fremont, Buhl, Teton, and Weiser. Ceder leads her team in Doubles with 3 and is second in many other categories like triples, slugging, and fielding. Shoutout to our incredible English 101 Dual Credit students! In just under an hour, students wrote an entire essay from start to finish with no pre-writing. Writing under pressure isn't easy; it takes focus, stamina, and critical thinking. Our seniors rose to the occasion and gave it their all. We're so proud of the hard work and determination they have shown throughout the year!
